City of Lake Mills TV Receives Midwest Media Festival Award for Public Service Announcement Lake Mills, Wisconsin – Wisconsin Community Media has announced the 2017 Best of the Midwest Media Festival awards and the City of Lake Mills Community and Government TV channels has received an Achievement Award for their work on the public service announcement “Lake Mills Police Pointers – Slow Down in School Zones”. Award winners will be honored at the Best of the Midwest Media Fest Banquet and Show at the Milwaukee Riverfront Holiday Inn Hotel on Thursday evening, April 6th. This year Wisconsin Community Media received 182 entries from local cable TV stations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa and North Dakota. The video festival was created to showcase great local television programming and to provide feedback to producers from professionals in the field. To enter, a program must have been produced and/or distributed through the facilities of a community media center and premiered on a cable access channel or its website the previous year. The Lake Mills Police Pointers public service campaign was created by Lake Mills Police Chief Patrick Matuszewski in April, 2016 as a way to communicate safety concerns to the community on TV and social media. To date, the public service campaign has been viewed over 2,000 times on-line through Facebook and YouTube. Lake Mills Cable TV Operator Dave Grooman produces a new Police Pointer PSA each month featuring a different police officer in the department. The department also utilize the City’s cable TV services to record over events and press conferences for the TV channel and social media. Last year Lake Mills TV won an Achievement Award for producing “The 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan” for the Lake Mills Department of Public Works. City of Lake Mills Community and Government TV is available to Charter cable subscribers in Jefferson County on channels 993 & 994.
